Internet Lodging Search Tips

If you're having problems with the search tool, you can always abandon it altogether and navigate to your destination city directly from our home page. Go to the list of states, choose, a state, and browse the list of cities within that state.

Our search engine is boolean 'and' by default, which means all of the terms you put into the search fields have to match in order to get a result. If you're unsure of the spelling of a city or place, and you've got 2 or more search terms in the "name" field, the first thing you should try is to shorten it to 1 term, whichever one you're most sure of the spelling. Also, you can check allow one misspelling, but if you do, try and keep your total number of characters (name and city fields) down to below 23. Beyond that many, you may get unexpected results.

Some Examples of Searches

  • If you wanted a list of all motels and hotels in Rochester, Minnesota, you would leave the first field blank, enter Rochester in the city field and choose Minnesota for your state.
  • If you wanted a list of all the Ramada Inns in the nation, you would enter Ramada in the first field and leave everything else blank. Note that this search would return more complete results than if you had entered Ramada Inn because a search on Ramada Inn would only return the listings where the words 'Ramada' and 'Inn' were side-by-side and would skip listings such as 'Ramada Hotel' .
